Grade 4 Assembly
Our Grade 4 Assembly is coming up next week on March 6th at 9am (Grades K-2 audience) or 10am (Grades 3-6 audience). Both assemblies will be the same and families are welcome to join us at either time. Our students have been working hard to prepare and are so excited to share their learning with you!
Surveys
Grade 4 students at Keeler will be participating in the Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey in class. The AEA survey also gathers responses from teachers across Alberta, and parents/guardians of Grade 4 students. This is an important opportunity to share your thoughts with Alberta Education. Survey codes for guardians were shared primarily through email (1 per household). If you would like to request a paper copy in a language other than English, please reach out to the office.
Our Grade 5 and 6 classrooms be sharing their thoughts around their learning and wellbeing through the CBE Student Survey. This is also being administered in class during class time.
For both surveys, all responses are anonymous, and students are welcome to stop at any time. We are excited to use the data from these surveys to identify successes as well as areas for growth as we plan for the next school year.
Siksiksimasiituk (Thank You)
We learnt so much from Shirley Hill this week. It was a wonderful experience to share in her teachings and kindness, and to see students so engaged in dancing and learning. Ayyyyyy, hand to heart Elder Shirley! Your presence will be missed at Keeler. A huge thank you as well to our School Council for providing the funding for this amazing opportunity for our students.
Grade 2 Field Trip
Our Grade 2 classes had a wonderful time at Telus Spark on Thursday. Students returned to school very excited about their new learning and opportunities to explore the facility and outdoor play area. This trip was able to occur free of charge thanks to a generous grant from Education Matters. Additional thanks to our teachers for planning and facilitating the day, and to the parent volunteers who were able to attend. We cannot do these trips without our volunteers! If you would like to volunteer for upcoming field trips, please contact the office to register and for support with requesting volunteer clearance.
February 28 Non-Instructional Day
The teaching staff came together for a wonderful day of professional learning on February 28th. We spent the day focused on expanding our understanding of pedagogical moves and reading instruction research including vocabulary development. Building this knowledge together advances our School Development goal of improving students’ foundational literacy skills.
