Grade 2 Sharing Assembly

Thank you to our Grade 2 students and teachers for their sharing assembly last week. They have been hard at work rehearsing and planning, and it was wonderful to see their learning and hard work showcased!

Shirley Hill

On February 24th to 27th, Elder Shirley Hill will be joining us. Elder Shirley is a hoop dancing grannie who will share step by step dancing with all grades. She has 37 years of experience performing and teaching dance and is also a frontline worker. She will also share Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) teachings through integrating storytelling with props and hands-on learning. We are so excited to work with Elder Shirley at Keeler.

During her first meeting with each class, Elder Shirley will lead students and staff through a smudge ceremony. More information will be shared with families soon on the purpose of smudging, curricular connections, and options for your child if you opt for them to not participate in this portion of our learning.

Nation’s Vision

Nation’s Vision will be joining our school in early March to provide free eye exams and subsidized/free eyewear for students who may not be able to access these within the community. Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you would like them to send a consent form home so your child is able to participate in the program.

Learn and Share | School Planning

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.

During this engagement, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Learn About

  • School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees
  • How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes
  • How the school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan
  • School fees and why they are necessary

2. Participate

  • Participate in our virtual or in person school council meeting on February 4th, 2025 at 5:30pm to learn more about school planning. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback at this meeting.
  • Share your perspectives through an online survey open from February 10th to March 31st

We’ll send you a link to the survey, our school development plan and school budget and fees information when it’s available. We will also post it on our school website.
