Welcome Back
We have truly enjoyed having students back in the building and settling into their new classrooms. Thank you to our families for your support in making the transition back to school smooth. We’re excited for the year ahead at Keeler and look forward to many meaningful opportunities for growth, learning, and success for all students.
Our weekly message this week is a bit longer than usual as it contains important information for families as we start the school year. Please reach out to the office with any questions.
Administrative Regulations
As we begin the new school year, we would like to highlight two CBE Administrative Regulations that help guide the work we do at Keeler:
AR 6031 – Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments
AR 6006 – Progressive Student Discipline.
Together, these regulations provide a framework for maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment. We encourage families to take some time to review these regulations.
Most importantly, we want every student to know that Keeler is a place where they are valued, supported, and empowered to learn and grow. Creating a positive school community is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the partnership of our students and families.
Health Plans
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you require, and have not yet had the opportunity to complete one of the following for the 2026/27 school year:
- a Health Plan (if you child has a medical or physical condition that will impact their performance at school or will be taking medication at school)
- an Emergency Response Protocol form (if your child has a life-threatening allergy or significant health concern)
These forms are completed annually. Completed forms can be returned to your child's teacher in their backpack, or in person to the school office staff.
School BBQ and Meet the Teacher
We are hosting a BBQ for Keeler School families on September 24th from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Rachel and Cailean will be serving hot dogs and juice, generously provided by our School Council. No RSVP is required.
Families are also invited to visit their children's classroom on Thursday evening from 5:00pm-7pm. Teachers will be available in their classrooms to greet families at this time.
Please note that supervision is not provided by school staff during Meet the Teacher night. All children must be supervised by an attending adult/family member for the duration of the evening.
Walking Field Trips
Teachers may take students on walking distance field trips throughout the school year. As parents/guardians, please be advised that you are not required to complete a consent form for your child to attend a class trip (including activities such as swimming and visiting the public library) if the trip is within walking distance from the school.
Please see the attached Walking Field Trip letter, included in this weeks weekly message email.
If your child's classroom is planning a walking field trip, teachers will provide at least 48 hours notice by email and/or Google Classroom.
School Drop Off and Parking
As you pick up or drop off students, we kindly ask that you use street parking along Forego Avenue and 47 Street SE to ensure that driveways, staff parking, parking lot entrances, and designated bus zones remain clear.
Thank you for your care and cooperation in helping keep our school community safe and accessible for everyone.
2026/2027 Yellow School Bus Service
For eligible students to ride the bus to and from school, they must be registered for 2026-27 yellow bus transportation service. Registration is ongoing, although processing delays may now apply. Families are welcome to pick up and drop off their children at school if they are waiting for registrations to be processed.
Please ensure that registered students are using the bus stop location that they are assigned in their MyCBE Account. Students will board assigned buses at the end of the day for safety reasons. When picking up your child, please ensure you know the correct location for your assigned stops.
If you need support finding your assigned bus stop, please contact the school.
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Cailean and Rachel
